The pterional craniotomy is the most utilized approach in neurosurgery. The left hand image show the skin incision and bone cut for a craniotomy with the location of the clinoidal meningioma and important landmark structures surrounding the tumor. The three images in the right hand column show resection of the tumor in a step-by-step fashion under microscopic view.
